DSL Troubleshooting

When your DSL connection does not work, here are some things to try. Please do not ever press the reset buttons on the back of your equipment and especially DO NOT PRESS THE RESET BUTTON ON THE BACK OF YOUR DSL MODEM!

  1. First check to make sure other computers in your house can get online. If you have other computers that are working on the DSL fine, skip step 2 and 3 and go to step 4.
  2. Locate your DSL modem. The DSL modem is usually manufactured by Best Data, Motorola, BEC or Diamond Multimedia or VisionNet. It will be labelled on the modem somewhere.
  3. Pull out the power plug on the back of the DSL modem. All lights on the front of the DSL modem will go out. Wait for at least 2 minutes before plugging it back in. Wait 2 more minutes and then check if your DSL is working.
  4. If step 3 didn't fix the problem, and you have additional equipment (routers, switches/hubs, access points, etc), unplug the power cord from these devices for 5 minutes before plugging them back in.
  5. If step 4 didn't fix the problem, please call us. Do not press the reset button on any equipment that you have. We will need to do additional troubleshooting with you over the phone to determine the problem.
