Apple Macintosh Software Updates

Answer

Updates are important for Apple Macintosh users.  To do a software update on an Apple Macintosh, do the following:

  1. Click on the Apple in the upper-left hand corner of the screen.
  2. Choose 'Software Update'.
  3. After Software update checks for available software, the software you need is displayed in the 'Software Update' window.
  4. Click the 'Install Items' button in the lower right-hand corner of the screen.
  5. Type in the password for your computer, or if your computer does not have a password, leave the password field blank.
  6. Click 'OK'.
  7. The items will be downloaded and installed and you will be prompted to restart.  Click on 'Restart'.
  8. Your computer may finish installing the updates before restarting.
Sometimes after a software update, your computer may take a long time to start back up or may restart twice.  This is normal because the computer is finishing the update process.
