To have Microsoft Windows check for updates, click on the 'Start' button, go to 'All Programs' and choose 'Windows Update'. Please note that Microsoft will check and see if your copy of windows is genuine when you do this Windows Update.  Customers that discover their version of Windows is counterfeit when doing this update need to contact their computer manufacturer or Microsoft to take the necessary steps to get a valid Microsoft Windows License.

The following screen comes up - choose 'Express':

Microsoft will check your computer and see what it needs. If this is the first time you have done Windows Update in this way or if you haven't done a manual Windows Update in a while, you may see this:

If you do not see the above screen, click here, otherwise click 'Download and Install Now'.  Then you will see the updates being downloaded and installed:

When the installation is complete, click 'Close'.  Please note if your computer fails the Windows Genuine Advantage test, your copy of windows is a counterfeit and you need to contact the manufacturer of your computer or Microsoft to resolve the problem.

Click on Continue.

You will be shown a list of available updates:

Click on 'Install Updates'.  The updates will download and install

You must click 'I Accept' to install the updates.

The updates will be downloaded and installed.

When everything is done, click on 'Restart Now'.  Don't do anything else with the computer until after it restarts.
